The ministry of Transport, Integrity, Nature and Senior Affairs is busy organizing a walk to commemorate the week of integrity, which will take place from the 5th until the 9th of December 2022.
In connection with the Week of Integrity, through a press release of the ministry of Integrity the local community was informed that, in collaboration with the Aruba National Park Foundation, the community is invited to take part in the Walk for Integrity, Walk for Nature, which will take place on the 9th of December.
Participants need to be present at the site at 4:30pm, and the walk itself will begin at 5pm at the FPNA Visitor Center. The route will be from the Visitor Center to the Cunucu House and back, which is a total walk of 3 kilometers. Registration is already open on the website www.integrityweekaruba.org or through the Facebook page of Minister Ursell Arends, of the ministry of Integrity. Participation is free and includes a dry-fit T-shirt.
“Integrity is present in every aspect of our lives”, the press release indicates. “Integrity applies to nature as well. It is our duty to respect and coexist with nature. Let’s honor our commitment with integrity, honor nature and join this walk.”
In recent weeks, Bureau Integrity Aruba has received attention in the news due to its reactivation. Back in October, the government was looking to fill two important positions among public employees, as vertrouwenspersoon integriteit (VPI, confidential advisor integrity) and interne onderzoeker (IO, internal investigator).
Integrity in the government departments is extremely important for the wellbeing of our country and our community. To achieve this in an effective way requires different instruments, with staff needing to complete training and serve as a VPI or IO. A VPI will serve as a point of contact for the public employee that suspects a violation of integrity has taken place at work. An IO gives advice or guidance when carrying out investigations on facts related to a suspicion of a violation of integrity, and in some cases will carry out the investigation on their own.
According to the press release, both roles will contribute to an integral government apparatus and a safe working environment.
