Palm Beach—The Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort & Casino introduced the festive season’s Tree of Giving in 2020, as a means of giving back to the community. Guests could contribute to the Tree of Giving, situated in the lobby of the Aruba tower, by purchasing a poinsettia plant throughout the month of December. All proceeds collected went directly to assist the island’s food bank FPNC, Fundacion Pa Nos Comunidad, www.fpncaruba.com.
Continuing the meaningful tradition for its fourth year in a row, Hilton Aruba spread the cheer in December, and presented the amount raised to Gianaika v/d Biezen, director FPNC, just recently. The resort matched guests’ contributions on multiple occasions, significantly increasing the total amount collected.
Fundacion Pa Nos Comunidad was established in 2009, following Gandhi’s view that poverty is the worst form of violence. The foundation runs a food bank, a clothing bank, and a furniture bank, and has been active ever since.
The foundation supports 300 to 350 families each month with a food parcel containing non-perishable tinned and dried foods. It runs a birthday program for kids, awarding them with sweets to share and a gift, on their birthday. FPNC packs extra food baskets at Christmas. The foundation is planning to host a meal packing event in May, in which 100.000 means will be prepared and packaged, to last several months.
Baki den Bario & Aruba Doet, are two more programs on FPNC’s agenda, one to collect second-hand clothing, the other to distribute meals to the needy. Headquartered in Modanza, in the heart of the island, FPNC is calling for volunteers to help and for corporate sponsors to come forward. The foundation experienced a significant reduction in donations along with higher priced goods as a result of inflation.
The donation from Hilton arrives at a timely moment, supporting the foundation in its ongoing dedication to local families. Hilton takes pride in once again contributing to this esteemed foundation.
