On Sunday, November 13, 2022, the Minister of Culture, Xiomara Maduro welcomed Saint Nicholas and the Petes at the Harbour Arena.
The Minister explained to Saint Nicholas that all the kids behaved well during the year. She asked the saint to give the most beautiful present to all children, namely love and joy.
Saint Nicholas surprised Minister Maduro with the book Pete Academy, in which Saint Nicholas explains the changes in the Saint Nicholas celebration and his colorful Petes.
Every color has a meaning, and Saint Nicholas wants the children to know more about it.
The Minister thanked Saint Nicholas for the books. She told Saint Nicholas that the children get copies of the books at school. It will also be available in digital format for the children.
After the welcome ceremony, the parade with Saint Nicholas and the Petes, accompanied by the choir ‘Muchanan Sabi’ of Edselyne Figaroa, and the Quality brass band, proceeded to Plaza Padu for a party prepared for the children to enjoy the arrival of Saint Nicholas and his Petes in Aruba.
