Prime Minister Wever-Croes meets with young female students at Culture Café in San Nicolas for International Women’s Day

(Oranjestad)—In light of International Women’s Day, Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes recently met with a few female students at Culture Café in San Nicolas. The prime minister expressed that this meeting was sincerely “super super” beautiful, where several students from secondary schools like Colegio San Augustin, Filomena College, Abraham de Veer, Colegio Nigel Matthew and EPB were all present. During this meeting, there were ideas interchanged, especially those related to women.

This year’s theme for International Women’s Day is “to empower women through innovation and digitalization” and it is very important to know what young women think of this topic. This was also a central theme during the meeting. Additionally, there were other topics discussed in relation to women and womanhood.

Students happy with the meeting with the prime minister

At the end of the meeting, students who participated were very happy and satisfied with the meeting with the prime minister and expressed that it was very interest and an overall “nice” experience where a lot was learned about International Women’s Day. Students were glad to have had an opportunity to speak with the prime minister. They considered the meeting a “safe place” where they were able to express their opinions and feelings with the prime minister.

“It was a very inspiring afternoon, because the ladies were well-prepared and they know exactly what they want. They also recognized the importance for these kinds of talks and meeting and this will certainly not be the last. I’m thankful for the schools’ principals for their cooperation with this meeting. I’d also like to thank the young ladies who attended and their parents for their cooperation. I will take this memory with me and work on some important points brought forth by the girls,” the prime minister expressed.
