Recently, while attending the Ocean Conference 2022, minister of Nature of Aruba, Mr. Ursell Arends held a meeting with representatives of Stimson Center, who are responsible to conduct the CORVI (Climate and Ocean Risk Vulnerability Index) study.
CORVI is a very important tool that is used to make important decisions to make investments with climatic impact. It’s goal is to improve the safety of cities which are located by the coast, as well as islands, and it helps to indicate how to evaluate the consecuences and vulnerability on our environment, finances and social situation.
According to a press release by the ministry of Nature, this was a fruitful meeting, directly related to one of the points brought forward by minister Arends during the conference, namely the target of introducing a ‘National Climate Resilience Council’ on Aruba, which will be tasked with executing these important tasks.
