Minister Geoffrey Wever will continue exploring the introduction of a Fast Ferry between Aruba and Cura莽ao

The Minister of Economics, Communication and Sustainable Development Mr. Geoffey Wever has announced that the exploration of the economic potential of a Fast Ferry between the two Islands will continue.

By petition, together with the Minister of Transport, Ursell Arends, the counsel of Minister will give their approval to explore the introduction of a maritime route between Aruba and Cura莽ao. The impact of the pandemic of coronavirus as well as the increase in costs of shipments and transport on the economy of Aruba has highlighted the need to create new markets and expand existing markets through the maritime sector. Development in the maritime sector will stimulate more commerce, investments and will expand the options of products for the consumers. This will be beneficial to the economic development of Aruba.

Exploration of the introduction of a Fast Ferry will be conducted by an expert in the maritime area, Ton Jansen. Jansen has expertise and a wide experience in the introduction of Fast Ferries in the Caribbean. Ton Jansen was part of the introduction of a Fast Ferry between Saba and Saint Eustatius in 2021.

Both Ministers Ursell Arends nd Geoffrey Wever believe that the maritime sector plays an essential role in the growth and diversification of the economy of Aruba. For this reason it is of utmost importance to explore if its beneficial and possible to introduce a Fast Ferry between
