(Oranjestad)—April 27th was the birth day of King Willem-Alexander and this was celebrated all throughout the Dutch kingdom, including Aruba.
There were an abundance of different activities and events around the island. For example, there were various Kite Flying competitions and car shows of classic cars, either customized or preserved in the down town area, where all clubs were invited to exhibit their unique motorcars.
This was the second time this year that the car show was organized—it is also tradition to have car shows on March 18th, the day of our National Flag and Anthem.
Many people were very excited to enjoy the range of snacks and foods provided around the island, take a trip to see the different activities and celebrate King’s Day. This day is very special to the community of Aruba, because “the king will stay our king, so we must celebrate with him,” according to a spectator our reporter briefly interviewed.
