The National Library of Aruba is presenting the 30th edition of the Children’s Book Festival.
This year, the Children’s Book Festival theme is ‘ Biba Natura-Lesa! ’ and takes place from November 7 to 11, 2022.
The opening will take place on November 4, 2022, at the Cas di Cultura from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and includes a show for the children that starts at 6:00 pm.
As is customary every year, a group of authors and illustrators will visit most of the 60 primary-, secondary and special schools in the week of the festival. There will be activities for the children at the National Library in Oranjestad and San Nicolas from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. There will be storytelling, demonstrations, and presentations, and the authors will share their experiences with the children and tell them more about writing, reading, and the wonderful world of books.
A book was created for the festival and is available at all the participating schools. The writers are James Ocalia and Evelien van Dort and the illustrators arePaul Wong and Wouter Goudswaard. It is also available at all bookstores.
On Monday, November 7, the “Biba Natura-Lesa” exposition will open in the Expo hall of the National Library in Oranjestad, and everyone is welcome to enjoy it. It is open from November 7 until December 2, 2022. For more information, please visit the library’s website.
As well as the book festival, The National Library (Biblioteca Nacional di Aruba) has announced its secondhand book market, which will take place from November 7 to 11, 2022.
It is a one-week event at the library in Oranjestad and San Nicolas.
The secondhand book market is open during the regular library opening hours from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. Come and dig into the large selection of secondhand books for only one florin each. You never know what kind of books you’ll find.
On Monday and Wednesday, the secondhand book market is open during the evening till 7.00 pm, whereas the library in San Nicolas is open on Tuesday till 7.00 pm
There will be secondhand books available in every genre for every taste.
