For today we received a lovely message from our awesome visitor Lainey Cross from Bethel, Maine, USA.

She wrote to us saying: “14 years ago my 75 year old mom traveled to Aruba alone. Because of work, I was arriving 4 days later. She told me what a wonderful experience she had had with a taxi driver. On the way to the resort the driver asked if she would like to stop anywhere? My mother replied that she would like to get a few groceries. Once at the grocery store the driver accompanied her inside and pushed the cart for her. When arriving at the resort, the driver waited for her to check in, then lugged the groceries in to our room and help put them away.

Prior to arriving in Aruba this year my 89 year old mom found that driver’s card. I got online and contacted the taxi company to see if they were still driving. I was told, yes they were. I said we were coming in March and hoped to meet the driver.

On March 28th, I called the driver and they agreed to take us to the airport despite it being their day off, as it was good Friday. This was done as a surprise for my mom to see the driver again. On Friday morning it was a happy reunion for the driver and my mother and a pleasure for me to meet the person who took such good care of my mom. That person is Jasmin Lampe. I am honored to mention her by name. Jasmin like so many others on the island go above and beyond to make meet their visitors needs. That’s what Aruba Means to me.”

Thank you for sending us this wonderful message sharing what Aruba means to you with us and our readers!
