(Oranjestad)—Aruba’s beach tennis players have once again proven their dominance in the sport by winning multiple categories at the first annual ABC Beach Tennis Cup, which includes players from Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao. Beach Tennis Bonaire as part of the Bonaire International Sports Week organized the tournament from March 31 to April 2, and Aruba came with 22 athletes participating in several categories.
Maria Buuts and Eugemine Ignacio won the Open Women’s category (highest level of play), while Wayne Tromp and Jelle Groenendijk won the Open Men’s category (highest level of play). Paola Ordoñez and Valery Karsten won the Advanced Women’s category, while Joke Hertogen and Jenna El Oualkadi were runners-up. Young talents, Thyshawn Dammers and Sebastian Dominguez, took home the Advanced Men’s category.
