(Oranjestad)—We at Aruba Today have been made aware recently about a scammer that has been using Aruba Today’s image to propagate fake news on Facebook.
In this post, titled “Ursell Arends didn’t know the microphone was on we say goodbye to him forever”, the user Xenia Flores used Aruba Today’s logo and website layout, accompanied with a photo shopped picture of minister Ursell Arends in handcuffs. We strongly reject this post as it did not come from our website—it is fabricated. Aruba Today never posted an article with the headline as shown in the picture, and we strongly condemn this unauthorized use of our logo and the impersonation of our newspaper.
All news that Aruba Today posts on Facebook comes directly from our official Facebook page, Aruba Today News. We ask of our readers to be careful to not click on these types of phishing posts on Facebook or anywhere else, as they can contain malware.
