My husband Steve Haggerty and I Susan Haggerty have been coming to Aruba for years! We love dogs and love seeing the dogs here on vacation as well. We started buying dog food at Super Foods years ago and would purchase as much as our rental car could hold. We would bring the food back to La Cabana where they would graciously hold the food for us while we reached out to the rescue groups to let them know we had some dog food for them.
Fast forward to 2023 we raised $4,700 for dog food and donated it today to the rescue groups on the island. The rescue groups on the island work 24/7 365 days a year to not only feed the dogs but also give them shelter, cover any medical cost needed and also help the dogs find their forever homes. Over the last 3 years we have raised over $12,000.00 for the dog food.
The rescue groups we work with are Luna Foundation Aruba, New Life For Paws Foundation, Sgt Pepper’s Friends and Aruba Relief Foundation. In addition to the groups we also gave food to volunteers who foster and feed the dogs throughout the year.
We are very fortunate for the opportunity to vacation every year in Aruba and want to pay it forward as much as we can.
We would like to thank our friends Skip and Claire Freeman who continue to support us every year with fundraising and man power to load all of the dog food into the vehicles. We also want to thank Just 4 Pet for always willing to help us and this event for the last 3 years. All of our friends at La Cabana who open their wallets each year with a smile on their faces and are so happy to help us. It takes a village to help the Aruba dogs and Steve and I are proud to be part of this village!
