Record Crowd Expected Amid Year of Hakhel — Gathering at Chabad’s Passover Celebration
Palm Beach, Aruba— As Passover approaches this year,Chabad of Aruba is preparing to host community-wide Passover Seders—the festive ritual-filled dinner on the first two nights of the holiday—on April 5 and 6.
Passover is one most observed Jewish holiday, and traditionally begins with The Seder which is usually celebrated with extended family and friends. To meet the needs of those looking for a place to observe this tradition Chabad Aruba welcomes all Aruba’s local and visitors Jewish people to join Passover Seders at Chabad.
The Seders take participants through the story of the miraculous liberation of the Jewish people from bondage in ancient Egypt and shares the relevance and beauty of the age-old festival in the modern world. Included in the Seders will be A delicious 4 course dinner paired with a variety of fine imported wines and handmade round “Shmurah” Matzah].
“This year, as we sit down to our Seder, we will be ensuring that everyone who wishes to celebrate Passover can do so,” said Rabbi Ahron Blasberg, who directs Chabad of Aruba. “Our goal is to lower the barriers to Jewish engagement and ensure everyone feels welcome and included, and has the opportunities and resources they need to celebrate the holiday.”
In 1954, the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory, the most influential rabbi in modern history, launched the Shmurah Matzah initiative as part of an effort to create awareness and promote observance of Passover. In keeping with his vision, an estimated four million hand-baked Shmurah Matzah will be distributed by the Chabad-Lubavitch movement this year.
This year’s Passover seders carry added significance as Jewish communities worldwide celebrate the Year of Hakhel or “Gathering,” marked with Jewish gatherings focused on unity, Torah learning and practice. The marking of this special occasion is why Chabad of Aruba is expecting record crowds at its seders and why there is additional focus on ensuring everyone in Aruba’s Jewish community feels comfortable and welcome to participate.
