The beaches of Aruba are considered to be among the cleanest, widest, and most spectacular in the Caribbean region. On the beaches you will encounter the Fofoti tree, not to be mistaken for the Divi Divi tree which grows all over the island. Both are typical trees for the island.

The unique crushed coral and shell composition of its fine, powdery white beaches keeps the sand comfortably cool, even during the hours when the sun is most intense. You can take a walk along the shoreline whenever you want … barefoot. The white sands are made of eroded limestone and may contain coral and shell fragments, in addition to other organic or organically derived fragmental material.
The famous Divi Divi (Watapana) tree is Aruba’s natural compass, always pointing in a southwestern direction due to the trade winds that blow across the island from the north-east. Both point in the same direction (Southwest) however, they grow at different angles, making it easy to mix them up.
